Our story

Seven centuries of royal memory

Founded by the d'Albret family in the heart of southern Gironde, the Château Royal de Cazeneuve was the favourite residence of the Kings of Navarre, and later the home of King Henry IV and Queen Margot. A former medieval fortress transformed into an elegant Renaissance residence in the 17th century, it overlooks the famous Ciron Gorges, between the Landes forest and the Atlantic.

A listed Historic Monument since 1965 and fully furnished with period pieces, the château and its park of rare, centuries-old trees are today devoted to tours, tourism and events. Troglodyte caves, medieval cellars and a grand courtyard form a setting unlike any other in Aquitaine.

Still home to the same ducal family, the Sabran-Pontevès, Cazeneuve is lovingly passed down and restored to offer each of your moments a rare authenticity.

Pretty nice castle with a very big garden. Don't forget to come when the weather is nice, it's much better! A guided visit of a fairly nice place.
